Derry Eagles Early Development Program (EDP) Policy

Posted: June 25, 2008

The Eagles program of the Derry Soccer Club participates in the Granite State Youth Soccer League (GSYSL) Early Development Program (EDP). EDP requires teams at the U8 and U9 travel divisions adhere to a specific game format. Therefore, all EDP games hosted by the Derry Soccer Club will play according to the following EDP format:

  1. Time allocated for Soccer = 90 minutes, including a warm up of approximately 15 minutes.

  2. First game will be 20 minute 4 v. 4 format, using pug nets. Set up multiple 4 v. 4 matches if number of players allow.

  3. 10 minute break before 2nd game

  4. Two 20 minute 6 v. 6 games with a 5 minute half time.

The times above can be adjusted where extreme heat or cold are at issue, and the children's health are endangered by extended play.

When Derry's EDP teams travel to other towns for games, Derry teams will express a preference for the EDP rules, but as gracious guests, will abide by the hosting town's desire.
