Derry Soccer Club's Hawks recreation program offers kids ages 3 and up the opportunity to learn the game of soccer while competing against other teams in the club. If your child is starting out in the sport or just looking for a way to stay active, the Hawks is the perfect program to play in.

U4 - U10 age groups receive

Professional training opportunities.
8 weeks in the Fall and 7+ weeks in the Spring seasons for a total of 15+ weeks of play time.

Differences by Age Group

U4 and U6 Age Groups
- Weekend soccer based training activities.
- Experienced coaches working with volunteer parent coaches.

U8 Age Group
- 1 Hour of group training working with volunteer parent coaches, lead by experienced club coaches.
- Saturday games.

U10 Age Group
- Parent coaches trained by experienced club coaches with curriculum.
- Intro to travel, with play against surrounding towns in some seasons and in-town only in other seasons. Travel option is dependent on registration of neighboring towns.

U12, U15, U18
- Play against surrounding towns in the Intertown League
- Volunteer parent coaches
- 8 weeks in the fall
- 7+ weeks in the spring
- Includes playoffs

Program Details

U4 Hawks

This is our into to soccer program. Players range in age from almost 3 to almost 4 years old. Weekend sessions are run by our professional coaching staff and focus on teaching our little ones how much fun it is to suit up and come play soccer! Sessions are 45 minutes and include lots of fun games to get our newest players moving. Parent involvement is highly encouraged! Size 3 ball.

U6 Hawks

U6 is our beginner program and introduces a team element. Saturday sessions include a 30 minute training session with volunteer coaches, overseen by our professional coaching staff followed by a 30 minute game. Format is 4v4 with no goalies. Out of bounds balls are tossed in by coaches. No referees. Scores are not reported. Soccer cleats, shin guards, and soccer socks are now required. Size 3 ball.

U8 Hawks

U8 adds in group practices and referees for games. Games are played on Saturdays in four 12-minute quarters. Format is 6v6 with "goalies" (no punting). Throw-ins, corner kicks, and goal kicks are all observed. Opposing players clear to half for goal kicks. Referees are expected to provide guidance to players in this low-pressure environment to help them learn the fundamentals of the sport. Scores are not reported. Size 3 ball.

U10 Hawks (Intertown)

U10 is the next step in our player evolution and introduces travel in some seasons. We continue with group practices and games are run by a single referee, but ARs may be added as a training opportunity for new referees. Games are played in two 25-minute halves. Format is 7v7 with goalies. Opposing players clear to build out line for goal kicks. No offsides. All other rules apply. Scores are reported by coaches. Referees are responsible for reporting any send-offs (red cards). Size 4 ball.

U12 Hawks (Intertown)

U12 is true recreational travel in the Southern New Hampshire Recreational League. Teams compete against neighboring towns within 45 minutes of Derry. Playoffs are included for seasons having 5+ teams in the grouping. 2 ARs accompany the center referee. Games are played in two 30-minute halves. Format is 9v9 with goalies. Offsides will be called and all other rules apply. Scores are reported by coaches. Referees are responsible for reporting any send-offs (red cards). Size 4 ball.

U15 & U18 Hawks (Intertown)

U15 & U18 continue with our SNHREC League. Playoffs are included for seasons having 5+ teams in the grouping. A center referee and 2 ARs officiate all games. Games are played in two 45-minute halves. Format is 11v11 with goalies. All rules of the game apply. Scores are reported by coaches. Referees are responsible for reporting any cautions (yellow cards) or send-offs (red cards), as these age groups are more physical in nature of play. Size 5 ball.

Equipment Needed

Hawks jerseys can be purchased during registration, and will be given out by the team's coach during the first week of the season.

All players will need:

-Soccer Cleats

-Shin guards

-Soccer ball

U4, U6 and U8 use a Size 3 ball.

U10 and U12 use a Size 4 ball.

U15 and U18 use a Size 5 ball.
